With your Ezine-Engine account, you can send HTML newsletters, plain text newsletters, or both at the same time.
With your Ezine-Engine account, your newsletters and autoresponder messages can look just like web pages.
Just in case you're new to this subject, let's talk a bit about the difference between plain text emails, and HTML emails.
Plain Text Email
Plain text emails are well, plain, and just text.
In the early days of the Net, plain text was the only kind of email. And still today, it's probably the most common type of email.
You type up your words on a white page, hit send, and your typing is sent to the recipient. We've all done it a million times.
The advantage of plain text email is that it's fast and easy, and everybody, even those with ancient computers and out of date software, can read our message.
HTML Email

HTML emails are like mailing a web page to your subscriber.
With HTML email, the creative possibilities for your presentation are dramatically expanded.
Just like on a web page, you can create a fancy layout with tables, format your text many different ways, make use of color, include images etc.
HTML emails can look a lot more professional than plain text. They're especially useful for sales, in all the same ways a web page can be. Readers can see you, and whatever you're selling.

You create HTML emails the same way you create web pages.
Just create a web page the way however you normally would, and then copy and paste the source code for that page in to the mailing form within your account. Voila, you have an HTML newsletter.
There are a few limitations. Generally speaking, it's best to avoid fancy technology like CSS, javascript, flash, embedded movies and so on. Modern email programs generally do a good job of displaying basic HTML, but they aren't modern web browsers.
A disadvantage of HTML email is that some readers with older email programs may not be able to see your message. And of course, it takes more time to create a fancier presentation.
You're In Control
Your Ezine-Engine account allows you to send plain text emails or HTML emails. You can even send both, at the same time.
With each newsletter, you have the flexibility to decide which type of presentation is the most suitable for that mailing.
Here's how that works.
Option One: If you enter ONLY a plain text message in to the form provided, all your readers will receive a plain text newsletter. Option Two: If you enter ONLY an HTML message in to the form provided, all your readers will receive an HTML newsletter. And now the fun the option. Option Three: If you enter BOTH a plain text message, AND an HTML message, both will be sent. With Option Three, if the user's email program can display HTML, they will see the HTML version of your newsletter. If their email program can't display HTML, they will see the plain text version.
Now you've covered all the bases, and everybody is happy.
Please note that your Ezine-Engine account can also send both plain text and HTML autoresponder messages, just as described above.
